Private Jet Timphou to Lexington

Timphou, served by Paro International Airport in the Bhutanese Himalayas, lies a considerable 6865 nautical miles from Lexington, demanding an ultra-long-range jet such as the Gulfstream G650ER or Global 7500. Cruising at altitudes up to 51,000 feet, the mission requires a technical stop, most commonly via Europe, given the distance and the demanding mountain departure from Paro, one of the most challenging commercial airports in the world for any aircraft. The flight crosses South Asia, the Middle East or Central Asia, and much of Europe and the Atlantic before finally reaching central Kentucky. Given the complexity of departing from a high-altitude mountain valley, only specially qualified crews typically operate flights from Paro, and the rest facilities aboard an aircraft of this class prove essential across a mission spanning close to fifteen hours including the stop. Arrival is into Blue Grass Airport, a short distance from downtown Lexington and the thoroughbred farms that surround it. Bhutan’s monasteries and Himalayan peaks give way, after a very long journey, to Kentucky’s quiet bluegrass pastures, home to Keeneland Race Course and its internationally significant racing and bloodstock sales, along with the Kentucky Horse Park nearby. This exceptionally rare route serves a tiny number of diplomatic, conservation or ultra-high-net-worth travellers, for whom private aviation is the only realistic way to connect these two remote and strikingly different destinations. Paro’s single approach corridor, threading between mountain ridgelines, means every departure from this airfield is planned with unusual precision, and the wider mission benefits from the same level of care applied to the long transcontinental legs that follow.
