Private Jet Truckee to Capri

Truckee Tahoe Airport, serving the resort communities around Lake Tahoe, is the starting point for a 5,405 nautical mile transatlantic crossing to Capri, a distance suited to an ultra-long-range aircraft such as the Gulfstream G650ER or Global 7500, both able to fly the sector non-stop while cruising in the high 40,000s, well above the weather and traffic typical of lower commercial altitudes. The high-elevation departure poses little challenge for aircraft of this class, whose performance margins are built for exactly this kind of demanding routing. Trading the alpine lake and granite peaks of the Sierra Nevada for the Mediterranean, travellers arrive by helicopter at Capri Heliport, landing above a coastline where limestone cliffs plunge directly into the Tyrrhenian Sea. The island’s Faraglioni rock formations, visible from numerous points along the coastal path, have appeared in film and photography for decades, while the Blue Grotto continues to draw visitors each morning to witness its distinctive cobalt light. Anacapri, connected to the main town by a scenic road, offers the chairlift ascent of Monte Solaro and views that rival, in their own way, the mountain vistas travellers have left behind. Evenings in Capri town centre on the Piazzetta, a small square whose café tables have hosted a rotating cast of European society since the mid-twentieth century. This route suits Lake Tahoe-area travellers accustomed to dramatic terrain and seeking an equally striking but entirely different setting, one built around narrow car-free lanes, centuries-old architecture and a pace dictated by walking rather than skiing or hiking, a genuine change of register after the mountains.
