Private Jet Vence to Madeira

From Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, the flight to Madeira spans roughly 1,312 nautical miles, a sector that a Challenger 350 or Gulfstream G280 covers in around two and a half hours, tracking west across Spain before turning out over the Atlantic. Vence, in the hills above Nice, benefits from the Riviera’s well-equipped executive terminal, which processes departures quickly even during the height of the summer season when the coast’s airports see their heaviest traffic. Cruising at altitudes near 41,000 feet keeps the aircraft comfortably above the weather systems that can affect the Iberian peninsula, and the cabin pressurisation on aircraft of this class ensures passengers arrive reasonably fresh despite the ocean crossing. The descent into Madeira Airport is a distinctive one, with the runway built out over the sea on a viaduct of concrete columns and the final approach threading between cliffs above Funchal, a manoeuvre that calls for pilots specifically trained on the airport’s particular demands. On the ground, Funchal’s cobbled old town, its cable car up to Monte, and the terraced vineyards that produce Madeira wine are all close at hand. This route draws Riviera-based travellers looking for a change of scene without the long-haul commitment of the Caribbean, as well as those extending a stay on the French coast into a winter break somewhere reliably warmer. Madeira’s volcanic landscape and Atlantic setting offer a striking contrast to the Mediterranean glamour of Vence and Nice, and the direct flight spares travellers the connections through Lisbon or Porto that commercial routings between these two destinations would typically involve.
