Private Jet Portofino to Charlestown

Genoa’s airport serves as the gateway for the roughly 3,919-nautical-mile journey from Portofino to Charlestown, a distance placing this sector in heavy-jet territory. Operators favour the Gulfstream G550 or Global 6000 for the crossing, both suited to a flight of around seven and a half hours at cruise altitudes that comfortably clear most North Atlantic weather. Flights depart Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport, convenient to the pastel-hued villages of the Italian Riviera and the yacht harbours that have made Portofino a byword for coastal glamour, before tracking west across the Mediterranean, Iberia and the Atlantic to Vance W. Amory International Airport on Nevis. The shift from Portofino’s cliffside terraces and superyacht anchorage to the quieter shores of Nevis is considerable, though both destinations share a certain instinct for restraint amid obvious wealth. Owners of vessels that summer in Ligurian waters frequently reposition to the Caribbean for the winter charter season, and this route has become a familiar one for guests and crew alike making the same seasonal migration by air rather than by sea. Nevis’s own maritime heritage, visible in the ruins of its old sugar-loading piers and the sheltered anchorages along its western coast, offers a different but genuine yachting culture, considerably less polished than Portofino’s but no less rooted in the sea. As with the network’s other transatlantic sectors, no scheduled airline serves this pairing directly, leaving private charter as the only sensible way to bridge the two coastlines within a single day. A private cabin also allows crews and guests travelling for a charter handover to arrive rested and on schedule, an important consideration when a yacht’s own season is timed tightly around the region’s winter events calendar and any delay to personnel can ripple through weeks of planned itineraries.
