Private Jet Horseshoe Bay Resort to Chesapeake

Horseshoe Bay Resort and Chesapeake lie 1,165 nautical miles apart, a distance comfortably served by a Citation CJ4 or, for larger groups wanting more cabin, a Challenger 350, over a flight running close to two and a half hours. Both cruise in the mid-forties in thousands of feet, smooth going for a route that crosses much of the American South. Departures use Horseshoe Bay Resort Airport, a private strip on the shores of Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill Country, built specifically so resort guests can land within a golf cart’s ride of the clubhouse rather than making the drive out from Austin, roughly an hour to the east. The Hill Country’s limestone bluffs, live oaks and bluebonnet-covered ranchland give the region a distinct character within Texas, a landscape of spring-fed rivers and wineries increasingly known for its own bottlings, quite apart from the state’s more famous cattle and oil country further west. Horseshoe Bay’s three championship golf courses and marina culture have made it one of the state’s quieter luxury enclaves, favoured by Austin and San Antonio families as much as visitors from further afield. Arrival at Chesapeake Regional Airport swaps limestone hills for tidewater: shipyards and naval logistics supporting the fleet based nearby at Norfolk sit alongside the Great Dismal Swamp Canal, still the oldest continually operating artificial waterway in the United States, and a peanut-farming heritage that lingers in the countryside beyond the airport. This route suits Texas Hill Country residents and resort members travelling east for business along the Elizabeth River, as well as anyone drawn to the idea of trading a lakeside fairway for a working Atlantic waterway within a single afternoon’s flying.
