Private Jet Staniel Cay to McKinney

Staniel Cay to McKinney covers roughly 1,199 nautical miles, a distance well suited to a turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12 or a light jet, either completing the crossing in around two and a half hours while comfortably managing typical Bahamian weather. Staniel Cay Airport, a modest grass-adjacent strip in the heart of the Exuma chain, is geared almost entirely toward private and charter traffic, given the absence of any meaningful commercial service to this famously remote island. These smaller aircraft cruise efficiently at altitudes suited to a sector of this length, a practical choice given the limited runway infrastructure typical of the smaller Out Island airstrips. McKinney, at the other end, has become one of the most closely studied examples of successful suburban growth in the United States, its historic downtown square preserved even as its corporate base has expanded steadily over the past two decades. McKinney National Airport spares arriving passengers the scale of DFW, delivering them close to Craig Ranch and the retail corridor along the Dallas North Tollway. This route serves a devoted following of boat owners and snorkelers drawn to Staniel Cay’s famous swimming pigs at Big Major Cay and the nearby Thunderball Grotto, alongside Texan families who return to the island year after year. Given the modest distance and the airstrip’s limited infrastructure, The Jet Collection recommends confirming aircraft suitability and fuel availability ahead of any planned departure to this particularly remote corner of the Bahamas. Staniel Cay’s tight-knit community and its lone general store give visitors a genuine sense of Out Island Bahamian life rarely found on the busier tourist circuit.
