Private Jet Exumas to Huntington Beach

The Exumas, a chain of some 365 cays running through the central Bahamas, lie roughly 2,286 nautical miles from Huntington Beach. A super mid-size jet such as the Gulfstream G280 handles the approximately four-and-a-half-hour flight comfortably, cruising near 43,000 feet and carrying ample reserve fuel for a route that crosses the Gulf of Mexico before tracking across the American Southwest toward the Pacific. Flights depart Exuma Airport near George Town, the gateway to cays made famous by swimming pigs, iguana colonies and some of the clearest turquoise water anywhere in the Caribbean basin. That world of sandbars and secluded anchorages contrasts sharply with Huntington Beach’s identity as a working surf town, home to a mile-long pier, nine kilometres of open sand, and an annual surfing competition that draws competitors from around the globe. Arrivals land at John Wayne Airport, close to the business corridors of Orange County and the yacht harbours of Newport Beach. The Exumas-to-Huntington-Beach route tends to appeal to yacht owners and charter guests who base their cruising in the Bahamas but keep a home or office on the West Coast, as well as to Californians seeking the particular stillness of the Exuma cays, a landscape increasingly popular with those chartering sailing and motor yachts through the archipelago. With Exuma Airport’s facilities modest relative to the island’s popularity, The Jet Collection arranges ground handling and timing well in advance, especially around the regatta and holiday periods when demand for slots rises noticeably and parking ramps reach capacity quickly across the whole chain.
