Formentera is the smallest of the inhabited Balearic Islands, a low, flat island south of Ibiza known for turquoise water, white sand and a slower pace than its neighbour. The beaches of Ses Illetes and Llevant run along a narrow sandbar inside the Ses Salines natural park, protected for its Posidonia seagrass meadows, and the coastline at Migjorn, Es Caló and Cala Saona offers quieter coves. Beach restaurants such as Juan y Andrea are reached by yacht tender as often as by road. The island has no airport, which keeps traffic and development modest and is part of its appeal. The season runs from May to October, with yachts arriving from Ibiza and the mainland.
The nearest airport for private jets is Ibiza Airport (IBZ). From there, the journey continues by sea: the port of Ibiza is around 15 minutes by car from the airport, and a private boat to La Savina, Formentera’s port, takes around 30 minutes. A helicopter transfer can be arranged where landing permissions allow. Ibiza handles a high volume of private flights in summer, so arrival slots should be booked well in advance. Flight times to Ibiza are around 1 hour 45 minutes from Geneva, around 2 hours from Paris and around 2 hours 15 minutes from London. The Jet Collection arranges the flight to Ibiza and the boat or helicopter across to Formentera, with luggage moved from one to the other.
