Tianjin is one of China’s four directly governed municipalities and the main port for Beijing and the north. Its economy rests on shipping, petrochemicals, aerospace and advanced manufacturing, concentrated in the Binhai New Area towards the coast, where a free trade zone and the Yujiapu financial district have attracted regional headquarters. Aircraft assembly is also a local industry, with an Airbus final assembly line beside the airport. The city has a distinctive historic core. The Five Great Avenues preserve European villas from the concession era, the Haihe River runs past Italian-style streets and Tianjin Eye, and the Ancient Culture Street offers a contrast. Beijing is about 30 minutes away by high-speed train, which makes Tianjin a useful alternative gateway to the capital.
Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN) lies in Dongli District about 13 km east of the city centre, between the old town and the Binhai New Area. A private flight from Shanghai or Seoul takes around 2 hours, and from Hong Kong about 3 hours 30 minutes. For travellers heading to Beijing, Tianjin can offer more flexibility on slots than the capital’s main airports, with fast road and rail links onward. Flying privately also makes short visits to the port zone or industrial parks practical in a single day. Private flights into China need landing and overflight permits arranged in advance. The Jet Collection prepares those permits, chooses an aircraft suited to the route, and organises handling at Binhai and onward cars to Tianjin, Binhai or Beijing.
