Tivat sits on the Bay of Kotor, the fjord-like inlet of the Montenegrin coast listed by UNESCO for its walled towns and mountain backdrop. The town has been transformed by Porto Montenegro, a superyacht marina and residential village built on the site of a former naval shipyard, with berths for some of the largest yachts in the Mediterranean, waterfront restaurants and a Regent hotel. Within a short drive are the old town of Kotor, the island churches off Perast, the Luštica peninsula and, further down the coast, Budva and the island resort of Sveti Stefan. Yacht owners, summer residents and buyers of property on the bay make up much of the traffic from May to September.
Tivat Airport (TIV) lies on the southern outskirts of town, about 3 km from Porto Montenegro, so the walk from aircraft to yacht can take minutes. The approach between mountains is demanding and traffic peaks sharply in summer, which makes careful scheduling worthwhile. Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) in Croatia, about an hour away by road with a border crossing, is the alternative when Tivat is busy or when a larger aircraft is needed. Flight times to Tivat are around 2 hours from Geneva or Zürich, around 2 hours 45 minutes from London and under 2 hours from Vienna. The Jet Collection compares the two airports for your dates and aircraft, then arranges handling and the transfer to the marina or your villa.
