Private Jet Abacos to Punta Mita

Abacos to Punta Mita, flown from Leonard M. Thompson International Airport, spans roughly 1,600 nautical miles, comfortably within reach of a Mid-Size or Super Mid-Size Jet such as the Citation Latitude, completing the crossing in around three hours while cruising near 43,000 feet. The Abacos’ main airport serves a cluster of tight-knit boating and sailing communities that have rebuilt steadily in the years since major storm damage, with private aviation now a well-established part of the islands’ connectivity to the wider region. On arrival into Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, Punta Mita’s gated resort peninsula sits a short coastal transfer away, offering Abacos-based sailors and second-home owners a genuinely different Pacific counterpart, trading the islands’ famous Sea of Abaco cruising grounds for Punta Mita’s open Pacific surf and golf-anchored resort culture. The Abacos’ sailing community, largely North American in origin, has produced a loyal following who increasingly maintain a complementary Pacific property, drawn by Punta Mita’s more consistent dry-season weather. A Mid-Size cabin offers a proper enclosed lavatory and functioning galley, entirely adequate for the roughly three-hour flight time, with sufficient hold space for sailing gear or golf equipment depending on the season. This route suits sailing enthusiasts and second-home owners balancing Bahamian and Pacific Mexico interests. Storm-season scheduling flexibility remains a practical consideration for Abacos departures, and operators serving this corridor generally build a degree of buffer into the itinerary during the Atlantic hurricane months between June and November. A number of Abacos-based charter clients also use this route to reposition an aircraft ahead of a longer Pacific Mexico sailing or fishing trip, treating Punta Mita as the first stop in a broader coastal itinerary rather than a single destination.
