Private Jet Amarillo to Horseshoe Bay Resort

The 339 nautical miles between Amarillo and Horseshoe Bay Resort trace a path from the flat expanse of the Texas Panhandle down into the folded hills of the Highland Lakes region. A Phenom 300 or Citation CJ4 makes light work of the crossing, typically landing in well under an hour after cruising in the low 40,000s, well above the turbulence that can build over the Caprock Escarpment on warmer afternoons. Departing Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, named for the Columbia astronaut and Amarillo native, passengers leave behind cattle country and grain elevators for a very different Texas landscape centred on Lake LBJ. Horseshoe Bay Resort’s private airstrip delivers guests straight to the property, cutting out what would otherwise be a five-hour drive or a connection through Dallas or Austin on a commercial itinerary. The resort’s appeal lies in its combination of championship golf, a full-service marina and Hill Country scenery of live oaks and limestone bluffs, a welcome change of pace for Panhandle residents used to wide-open plains. This route sees steady use from ranching and agribusiness families with interests spanning both regions, as well as golf groups keen to play Slick Rock or Ram Rock without losing a day to travel. Because the flight is brief, many charters combine it with a same-day return, particularly for business meetings held at the resort’s conference facilities. For a state as large as Texas, where north-south drives routinely stretch past six hours, this direct link stands out as one of the more practical private-aviation shortcuts between two genuinely different corners of the state.
