Private Jet Berry Islands to Akron

The Berry Islands, a sparsely populated chain of Bahamian out islands prized by anglers, lie around 947 nautical miles from Akron, a distance well suited to a turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12, which can operate comfortably from Great Harbour Cay’s modest runway and complete the sector in a little over two hours. The islands are best known among serious bonefishing and sportfishing enthusiasts, their shallow flats and surrounding deep water drawing a quiet but devoted following rather than the larger resort crowds found on more developed parts of the Bahamas. Arriving passengers land at Akron-Canton Airport, close to a city whose own character was shaped by rubber rather than fishing. Goodyear, Firestone, and BF Goodrich all operated major works in Akron, and the University of Akron’s polymer science department continues that research tradition today. Those with time to spend can tour Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens or spend an afternoon at Lock 3 Park downtown. Given the modest infrastructure at the Berry Islands end, this pairing suits anglers and private clients who value a turboprop’s ability to operate from a short, simple runway over the extra speed of a jet, particularly when the return leg can be timed around tides or a fishing charter rather than a fixed schedule. The islands also remain largely free of commercial development, which keeps air traffic light and makes scheduling a charter considerably more flexible than at the Bahamas’ busier tourist hubs. Direct access also means anglers can be on the water within the hour, rather than losing a day to connections through Nassau.
