Private Jet Butte to Aurora

Bert Mooney Airport, serving Butte high in the Montana Rockies, is the starting point for a short 510 nautical mile route to Aurora, Colorado. A light jet or turboprop is well matched to this distance; a Phenom 300 or Pilatus PC-12 makes the crossing quickly, cruising over Montana and Wyoming’s mountain and plains terrain before descending into Colorado’s Front Range. Arriving passengers reach the Denver metropolitan area at 5,280 feet of elevation, an altitude Butte residents will find familiar given their own city’s position at over a mile high in the Rockies. Aurora has built its own identity around the Anschutz Medical Campus and its links to Buckley Space Force Base, while downtown Denver’s museums and Union Station district sit a short drive west, with the Rocky Mountains rising further on. Butte’s history as one of the richest copper mining districts in the world has left a distinctive mark on the town, from the Berkeley Pit’s striking open scar to the well-preserved Victorian architecture built with mining wealth a century ago. The Continental Divide runs directly through the area, giving the town a genuine claim to sitting astride the backbone of the continent. Given the short distance involved, a light jet or turboprop is the practical, efficient choice for this mountain-to-mountain route between two historically resource-driven cities. The Original Mine Yard tour lets visitors descend into the tunnels that once made this one of the busiest mining towns in the American West. Our Lady of the Rockies, a large statue overlooking the valley, was built largely by volunteers and remains visible from much of the town below.
