Private Jet Hailey to Cavallo

Friedman Memorial Airport, serving the ski resort town of Sun Valley, gives Idaho travellers a scenic if unlikely starting point for the roughly 4,870 nautical mile journey to Cavallo. A heavy business jet handles this distance well, with the Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global 6000 able to complete the crossing without a technical stop, cruising in the mid-40,000s where the ride tends to be noticeably smoother over long ocean sectors. Cavallo sits within the Lavezzi archipelago off southern Corsica and carries no airstrip of its own, so arrival is via Figari-Sud Corse followed by a short onward transfer to the island. Once there, travellers find narrow car-free paths, pink granite worn smooth by the sea, and water of exceptional clarity opening onto the Strait of Bonifacio towards Sardinia. The nearby citadel of Bonifacio, its buildings perched along sheer limestone cliffs above an old fishing harbour, offers restaurants and shops for an easy change of pace during a longer stay. Coming from the mountain resort landscape around Sun Valley, guests trade groomed ski runs and alpine peaks for warm granite islets and Mediterranean light, a considerable but welcome shift for those seeking a summer escape rather than another mountain destination. This route suits Idaho-based travellers planning an extended stay on or near the island, with the aircraft’s range built to make the long eastbound crossing feel like a natural continuation of the trip rather than a hurdle to clear first. Given Sun Valleys elevation, departure performance planning takes on added importance, though the airports experienced handling teams routinely manage long-range transatlantic departures for the resort towns seasonal visitors.
