Private Jet Hailey to Modesto

Friedman Memorial Airport, serving the Sun Valley resort area of central Idaho, is the departure point for this 469 nautical mile sector to Modesto, a distance comfortably suited to a light jet such as the Citation CJ4 or Phenom 300, with a turboprop like the Pilatus PC-12 also a sensible option given the airport’s mountainous surrounds and the shorter hops many travellers prefer from this base. Cruising at altitudes up to 43,000 feet, the flight clears the Sawtooth Range within minutes of departure, settling into a cruise across the Great Basin that rarely exceeds an hour. Hailey and the surrounding Wood River Valley have long drawn a wealthy seasonal population for skiing, fly-fishing and the summer arts scene centred on Sun Valley, and private aviation remains the preferred way to reach the area given its distance from any major commercial hub. Modesto, at the southern end of this route, opens onto California’s Central Valley, a landscape of almond orchards and dairy operations that offers a striking contrast to the mountain scenery left behind. The light jet cabin suits this hour-long crossing well, keeping the trip brief while retaining the comfort travellers expect after a day on the slopes or the river. This corridor tends to serve seasonal residents splitting time between Sun Valley and California business or family interests, along with travellers continuing on toward Yosemite National Park or the Bay Area. Given Hailey’s limited scheduled service, chartering remains the most practical way to make this particular connection without a lengthy detour through Salt Lake City.
