Private Jet Lexington to Cape Coral

Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport sends travellers on a 704 nautical mile flight to Cape Coral, a journey of roughly an hour and a half suited well to a light jet, turboprop or very light jet depending on group size, with cruise altitudes generally in the high 30,000s for the jet options. Kentucky’s bourbon and horse industries have produced a genuinely wealthy regional business class, and Blue Grass Airport’s general aviation traffic reflects that concentration of private wealth well beyond what the city’s modest size might otherwise suggest. The relatively short flight south crosses Tennessee and Georgia before reaching Florida’s Gulf Coast, descending into Page Field in Cape Coral, a city whose extraordinary canal network, the longest of any city in the world, gives it a defining character quite different from the rolling bluegrass pastures passengers leave behind. This route serves Kentucky’s horse-farm owning and bourbon-industry business community particularly well, many of whom keep a Gulf Coast property as a winter counterpoint to Kentucky’s own seasonal rhythms. The modest flight time makes the connection between the two regions considerably easier than the roughly eleven-hour drive would otherwise require. Keeneland’s racing seasons in spring and autumn bring a reliable spike in Blue Grass Airport’s private traffic generally, though the Cape Coral route itself tends to stay busiest through the depths of winter when Kentucky’s own weather turns least appealing. Horse industry ties between Kentucky and Florida, itself home to a significant breeding and training scene, add a further, more specific layer of connection between the two regions.
