Private Jet Monterey to Bakersfield

Monterey to Bakersfield is a short regional hop of only around 165 nautical miles, comfortably suited to a Citation CJ4, Phenom 300 or a Pilatus PC-12 turboprop, any of which completes the crossing in roughly thirty minutes. Departing from Monterey Peninsula Airport, passengers leave behind a coastline famous for its golf courses, aquarium and the rugged beauty of Big Sur just to the south, before a brief flight east over the Salinas Valley and the Diablo Range delivers them to the agricultural heartland of the southern San Joaquin Valley. Bakersfield could hardly present a more different character from Monterey’s coastal charm, built instead around oil extraction and large-scale farming; the Kern River field remains active on the city’s edge, and the valley floor around it produces almonds, citrus and cotton in vast quantities. The city also holds a notable place in American music, having given rise to the Bakersfield Sound associated with Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, whose influence is still celebrated at the Buck Owens Crystal Palace. Meadows Field, the arrival point, sits only minutes from the city centre. Given how short this route is, it particularly suits agricultural buyers, wine industry executives based around Monterey and energy consultants who need to move quickly between California’s coast and its productive interior valley, without the drive time or connection delays that ground transport or a commercial routing through San Jose or Los Angeles would otherwise involve for a trip of this length. Wine industry travellers moving between the Monterey and Paso Robles growing regions and the Bakersfield area frequently favour this short hop over the longer coastal drive, especially when a same-day return to the Peninsula is part of the plan.
