Private Jet Nantucket to Chesapeake

Nantucket and Chesapeake lie 400 nautical miles apart, a short New England sector well suited to light jets or turboprops such as the Pilatus PC-12, in around an hour. Cruising in the mid-to-high thirties of thousands of feet keeps the flight above typical coastal weather, and the modest distance makes same-day return trips entirely practical for both business and leisure travellers. Departure is from Nantucket Memorial Airport, a busy seasonal field serving an island whose cobblestone streets and grey-shingled cottages have made it one of New England’s most exclusive summer retreats since the whaling era gave way to tourism. Arrival at Chesapeake Regional Airport brings passengers into Virginia’s Hampton Roads region, close to the Chesapeake Bay and the naval and maritime infrastructure centred on nearby Norfolk, a fitting link between two coastal communities shaped by their maritime heritage. Chesapeake’s mix of historic canal routes and a fast-growing logistics economy provides a practical mid-Atlantic base for this seasonal New England corridor. Nantucket’s summer population swells dramatically compared with its year-round residents, and this route reflects that seasonality closely, with private aviation traffic peaking sharply between Memorial Day and Labour Day before tailing off considerably once the island’s famously quiet off-season sets in. The island’s famous cobblestone Main Street and its strict architectural preservation rules have kept Nantucket’s historic whaling-era character remarkably intact, a large part of why it continues to command such loyalty among repeat visitors. Whaling Museum exhibits throughout the town offer a glimpse into the industry that first put the island on the map.
