Private Jet Porto Heli to Grand Rapids

Porto Heli and Grand Rapids lie roughly 4,623 nautical miles apart, a distance well matched to a heavy-category jet. A Gulfstream G550 handles this transatlantic crossing of around eight and a half hours with reserves to spare, its cabin well suited to a long day of travel between the Argolic Gulf and the American Midwest. Cruising above 43,000 feet keeps the aircraft comfortably above most weather over the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Departures use Porto Heli Airport or, for larger aircraft, nearby Kalamata International Airport. Porto Heli has grown into a favoured retreat for Athenian and international travellers alike, its sheltered bay lined with waterfront tavernas and a short boat ride from the island of Spetses, one of the Saronic Gulf’s most elegant car-free islands. Grand Rapids presents a contrasting Midwestern setting on arrival, a city built on furniture manufacturing and now equally known for craft brewing and the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Arrivals land at Gerald R. Ford International Airport. This route particularly suits travellers returning from a Saronic Gulf summer to business or family commitments in Michigan, for whom private charter avoids the ferry and road transfers combined with a connection through Athens that reaching this part of Greece commercially would otherwise involve. Spetses remains notable for its ban on most private cars, with horse-drawn carriages and bicycles still a common sight along its waterfront, a detail that adds to the old-world charm travellers associate with this corner of the Saronic Gulf. Porto Heli’s own bay provides one of the best-sheltered anchorages in the region, drawing superyachts throughout the summer season.
