Private Jet Porto Heli to Hilton Head Island

Few private routes illustrate the range of the Peloponnese quite like the one linking Porto Heli to Hilton Head Island, a crossing of some 4,849 nautical miles that carries travellers from the Argolic Gulf to the marshes of coastal South Carolina. A sector this long is squarely heavy-jet territory, with aircraft such as the Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Challenger 650 offering the range and high-altitude cruise performance, often above 45,000 feet, needed to cover the distance in reasonable comfort with sensible fuel reserves. Passengers typically depart from Porto Heli Airport or, when schedules call for it, the larger Kalamata International Airport a little further along the coast, before the aircraft climbs out over southern Europe and settles into its long Atlantic track. On arrival, Hilton Head Island Airport delivers guests directly into the Lowcountry, close to the tidal creeks of Calibogue Sound and the low, pastel-toned streets of Sea Pines. The island’s identity is bound up with golf and quiet coastal scenery in equal measure, from the world-renowned Harbour Town Golf Links to the salt marsh boardwalks where dolphins can be watched feeding at the tideline. A heavy jet’s cabin, with its private rest area and full galley service, is well matched to a journey of this length, allowing travellers to arrive rested rather than simply arrived. The route tends to suit owners of property on both coasts, wedding parties moving a whole group direct from a Greek celebration to an American golf resort, or business travellers for whom a single long sector beats two shorter ones through congested hubs. Whatever the purpose, the distance between these two coastlines is considerable, and the right aircraft makes it feel far shorter than it actually is.
