Private Jet Porto Heli to Madeira

Porto Heli’s private aviation traffic typically routes through either Porto Heli Airport itself or nearby Kalamata International Airport for the roughly 1,981 nautical mile flight to Madeira, a sector that suits a mid or super mid-size jet such as the Gulfstream G280 or Challenger 350 given the near four-hour crossing involved. The Argolic coast, with its cluster of harbourside tavernas and proximity to Spetses, gives way quickly to open Mediterranean airspace once the aircraft climbs away from the Peloponnese. Cruising around 41,000 feet for the bulk of the sector, the flight tracks west past southern Italy and across the length of the western Mediterranean before turning towards the Atlantic and the volcanic outline of Madeira. The final approach into Madeira Airport remains among the more striking in commercial and private aviation, its runway built out over the sea on a bridge of concrete pillars, with pilots specifically trained for the terrain and the crosswinds that can affect the final turn. Arriving guests find Funchal’s old town, its cobbled Rua de Santa Maria, and the cable car up to Monte all within easy reach of the airport. This pairing draws yacht-based travellers and villa guests from the Porto Heli area seeking to extend a Greek summer with an Atlantic island offering a markedly different, more temperate climate through much of the year. With no meaningful scheduled service linking these two coastal regions, a direct charter remains the only realistic way to make the journey without at least one, and typically two, connecting flights through major hubs.
