Private Jet San Francisco to Sun valley

At roughly 513 nautical miles, the corridor between San Francisco and Sun Valley is a well-established one for private charter. It suits a light jet, the Phenom 300 and Citation CJ4 being two of the more capable choices on this pairing. Cruising at altitudes up to 45,000 feet keeps the aircraft above most commercial traffic and weather, smoothing the ride considerably. Departures are generally arranged from San Francisco International Airport, which handles private aviation traffic without the queues typical of larger commercial gateways. Friedman Memorial Airport, the gateway to the valley, sits in terrain that rewards the kind of careful approach planning private operators routinely provide. Flexibility is the principal reward of chartering this sector: departure times can be set around personal plans rather than a fixed timetable, and the aircraft waits on the traveller rather than the reverse. Planning ahead is worthwhile on this sector, since positioning the right aircraft for a long day of flying takes some coordination between operator and client. Sun Valley itself needs little introduction to seasoned travellers: the surrounding Sawtooth National Forest offers hiking, fly-fishing and mountain biking that keep the area busy well beyond the ski season, while Sun Valley, in Idaho’s Wood River Valley, was established in 1936 as the United States’ first purpose-built destination ski resort, conceived by Union Pacific Railroad chairman Averell Harriman. Beyond that, Dollar Mountain and Elkhorn Village round out a resort layout designed from the outset for an unhurried, low-density style of alpine holiday, and Ernest Hemingway spent his final years in the town and is buried in the local cemetery, a link that still draws literary travellers. The convenience is most apparent for return visitors, who tend to prize the time saved over a connecting commercial itinerary. The route works well for anyone whose schedule cannot accommodate a connection, whether arriving for a ski week or a summer stay.
