Private Jet Simpson Bay to Irving

Simpson Bay, on the Dutch side of St Maarten, is about 2,033 nautical miles from Irving, a distance that a mid-size or super mid-size jet handles with ease from Princess Juliana International Airport, an airport well known even outside aviation circles for its low final approach directly over Maho Beach. The flight typically takes around four hours at cruising altitudes near 43,000 feet, tracking south-east from Texas across the Gulf of Mexico before descending into one of the more photographed approaches in commercial and private aviation alike. Back at Dallas Love Field, passengers return to Irving’s Las Colinas district and the wider Dallas-Fort Worth area, a region that sends a considerable number of travellers each winter to St Maarten’s dual identity as both a lively cruise-ship destination and a springboard to the quieter French side of the island around Grand Case. This route suits leisure parties drawn by the island’s casinos, beach clubs and duty-free shopping, as well as yacht owners using Simpson Bay’s lagoon as a base during the Caribbean charter season. The super mid-size cabin’s comfortable seating and decent baggage capacity make it well suited to family groups, and a private arrival avoids the queues that build at Princess Juliana’s compact terminal during the island’s busiest weeks. Travellers continuing on to the French side around Orient Bay or Grand Case often find it worth building in an extra half day, since the contrast between St Maarten’s livelier Dutch side and its quieter French counterpart is part of what keeps visitors returning to the island year after year.
