Private Jet Sion to Menorca

The hop between Sion, in the heart of the Swiss Valais, and Menorca covers approximately 408 nautical miles, short enough that a turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12 remains a sensible option alongside the usual light jets, particularly for smaller groups or when Sion’s mountain-ringed runway calls for an aircraft with strong short-field performance. Sion Airport, tucked into the Rhône valley beneath the peaks that make this region a winter sports draw, is well practised in handling private traffic heading south for the summer months, and turnarounds here are typically brisk. Menorca could hardly offer a more different landscape on arrival. Where Sion sits among glaciers and vineyard terraces, Menorca is flat by comparison, its highest point, Monte Toro, rising to just 358 metres yet still affording views across the entire island on a clear day. The coastline alternates between the pale limestone calas of the south and the darker, more rugged shore to the north, shaped by centuries of the tramuntana wind. Es Grau, a fishing hamlet beside a protected lagoon, is a favourite for those wanting a gentler introduction to the island’s nature reserves. This pairing tends to suit travellers who split their year between the Alps and the Mediterranean, chasing snow in winter and calm water in summer. With a flight time of about an hour, the switch between the two can happen almost on a whim, landing well before lunch with the rest of the day free for a swim, a harbourside meal, or simply the pleasure of trading altitude for sea level in a single short flight.
