Private Jet Sion to Yonkers

Sion, tucked into the Swiss Alps and long popular with private aviation for its scenery and proximity to the resorts of Valais, sends travellers 3397 nautical miles to Westchester County Airport on the outward leg of a journey quite different in character from most Alpine routes. A super-mid or heavy jet is well suited to the distance, with the Gulfstream G280 and the Bombardier Challenger 650 both capable aircraft for this sector, cruising at altitudes generally between 41,000 and 45,000 feet and completing the crossing in a little over seven hours. Cabin pressurisation on both types keeps the equivalent altitude low throughout the flight, a detail that matters considerably given the sector’s length, allowing passengers departing from the mountains to arrive in the New York area without the fatigue a longer commercial routing through a major European hub would typically involve. Westchester County Airport places arriving guests close to Greenwich, Connecticut, a town whose name has become shorthand for hedge fund wealth, and within a short drive of White Plains, a genuine commercial centre for the northern suburbs. Manhattan lies approximately twenty-five miles to the south, while the Hudson Valley spreads out to the north for those seeking a change of scenery similar in spirit, if not in altitude, to the mountains they have left behind. This route suits travellers moving between the ski resorts and private estates of the Valais region and the financial and family office community concentrated around Westchester and lower Connecticut, as well as skiers and second-home owners who value the ability to depart from a small Alpine airport rather than routing through Geneva or Zurich. The contrast between Sion’s mountain setting and Westchester’s leafy suburban surroundings makes for one of the more distinctive pairings among the routes on offer.
