Private Jet Sun valley to Cavallo

Sun Valley to Cavallo measures around 4,867 nautical miles, a sector best handled by a heavy business jet like the Gulfstream G550, departing Friedman Memorial Airport in the mountains of central Idaho. Cruising near 45,000 feet, the aircraft’s range and cabin comfort suit the roughly nine and a quarter hour crossing well, offering a smooth transition from Idaho’s high alpine terrain to the far more temperate waters of the western Mediterranean. Cavallo, the arrival point, is part of the Lavezzi archipelago, a scatter of granite islands set within the Bonifacio Strait between Corsica and Sardinia. Where Sun Valley is built around mountains and snow, Cavallo is shaped entirely by the sea, its granite shoreline dropping into water so clear that boats seem to hover above the seabed. There are no roads or vehicles on the island, only sandy tracks linking a small number of villas positioned well apart from one another for maximum privacy. Strong currents through the strait keep the water exceptionally transparent, a quality that has long drawn sailors and helped the island cultivate a discerning, largely returning clientele. Cavallo’s owners have deliberately limited development for decades, prioritising the preservation of its pine-covered granite landscape over any expansion of visitor infrastructure. For skiers and mountain-town regulars looking for a summer counterpart, Cavallo offers the same emphasis on understated luxury and natural setting, just built around open water rather than snowfields, making it a natural pairing for an extended warm-season stay. Days typically unfold between a private swimming cove, a shaded terrace lunch, and an evening sail toward the Sardinian coastline as the light softens.
