Private Jet Telluride to Glendale

Just 339 nautical miles separate the alpine setting of Telluride from the desert floor of Glendale, a short but dramatic hop across the Colorado Plateau. Given Telluride’s high-altitude airport and mountainous surroundings, a turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12 or a light jet like the Phenom 300 is typically the aircraft of choice, both capable of the shorter runway performance the terrain demands while still cruising efficiently at altitude for the crossing. The journey typically takes under an hour, departing from Telluride Regional Airport, itself one of the highest commercial-capable airports in North America and a gateway to the surrounding San Juan Mountains. On the Arizona side, Glendale Municipal Airport delivers passengers into the West Valley, close to State Farm Stadium and the restaurants and retail of the Westgate Entertainment District. Visitors continuing on into greater Phoenix find a stark contrast to Telluride’s box canyon setting, trading pine forests and ski runs for saguaro-studded desert and golf courses that stay open year-round. The turboprop’s combination of short-field capability and respectable cruise speed makes it particularly well suited to routes originating in mountain resort towns, where runway length and elevation rule out larger cabin classes. Ski-season travellers heading south for a change of climate, as well as second-home owners who split their year between a Colorado mountain retreat and an Arizona desert property, make up much of this route’s traffic. The short flight time means the whole journey, door to door, often takes less time than the drive to a nearby regional airline hub.
