Private Jet Vail to Shima

Vail to Shima covers close to 5,153 nautical miles, a sector that pairs an alpine departure with one of the longest ocean crossings in commercial aviation. A Bombardier Global 6000 handles the distance with room to spare, its cabin built for genuine rest across what typically runs to nine and three-quarter hours in the air, while its performance comfortably suits the demands of Eagle County Regional Airport’s mountain setting. Cruise altitude usually settles near 45,000 feet, high enough to stay above most weather and provide a considerably smoother ride than the turbulence lower-flying aircraft can encounter over such a long stage. Shima, the arrival point, sits within Ise-Shima National Park on Japan’s Kii Peninsula, its shoreline a mix of forested islets and quiet bays. Ago Bay remains closely associated with cultured pearl farming, an industry Kokichi Mikimoto established there in the 1890s and which continues to operate from the same waters today. A short distance inland, Ise Grand Shrine is regarded as Shinto’s most important site, rebuilt every twenty years in a tradition stretching back centuries, a status that saw the region host world leaders during the 2016 G7 summit. Kashikojima’s harbour towns are known for their seafood, especially ise-ebi spiny lobster and locally harvested abalone. This route suits travellers based around Vail’s ski season looking for a genuinely different kind of escape, whether a coastal retreat, a cultural pilgrimage to Ise, or simply a complete change of scenery reached with the comfort a crossing this long requires. Nearby Toba, easily reached from Kashikojima, adds an aquarium and further pearl museums to the itinerary, making it easy to fill several unhurried days without ever feeling rushed between sights.
