Private Jet Chicago to Cavallo

Covering roughly 4,093 nautical miles, the route from Chicago to Cavallo sits comfortably within the range of a Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global 6000, both of which handle the transatlantic crossing with fuel to spare and a cabin engineered for extended comfort, typically cruising between 41,000 and 45,000 feet above the bulk of commercial traffic. Chicago O’Hare International Airport provides a well-equipped departure point, with FBO operators experienced in handling international long-range charters and the customs processes that come with them. The destination end of the journey is markedly different in character: Cavallo, a granite island tucked into the Lavezzi Nature Reserve within the Strait of Bonifacio, separating Corsica from Sardinia. Access is exclusively by helicopter to the island’s own landing strip, since no commercial airport exists there, and that restriction is central to the island’s appeal. Cavallo has developed a quiet reputation among European high society and a smaller circle of international travellers as one of the last unspoiled pockets of the western Mediterranean, its shoreline of pale granite and clear turquoise shallows largely untouched by development. A scattering of private villas and a single well-regarded restaurant make up most of the visible infrastructure, with yachts anchored offshore filling in the rest of the social scene during the summer months. Travellers making the journey from Chicago tend to be connecting into a broader Mediterranean itinerary, whether joining a chartered yacht already in the strait or continuing on to villas in nearby Corsica or Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda. The distance involved makes this a full day’s undertaking door to door, but the long-range jet’s cabin comfort and the destination’s rarity generally make the sector feel worthwhile well before touchdown.
