Private Jet Alexandria to Serengeti

Alexandria to Serengeti covers about 2,007 nautical miles, a north-south crossing of the length of Africa’s eastern half that takes roughly four hours and suits a mid-size or super mid-size aircraft well, the Gulfstream G280 offering the range and altitude capability, near 43,000 feet, to clear the varied terrain and weather between the Mediterranean coast and the East African plains. Borg El Arab International Airport, Alexandria’s dedicated gateway for private traffic, provides an efficient, low-congestion departure well away from Cairo’s busier airspace. Landing at Seronera Airstrip places guests directly within the Serengeti ecosystem, close to some of the finest safari camps in Tanzania and within reach of the great wildebeest migration for much of the year, depending on season. The immediacy of the arrival, stepping from the aircraft almost straight into the bush, is part of what makes this route so distinctive. Egyptian travellers and those transiting the eastern Mediterranean toward East Africa are the principal users of this sector, a pairing with essentially no scheduled equivalent given Seronera’s remote, unpaved runway. A private crossing removes the need for connections through Nairobi or Dar es Salaam entirely, compressing what would otherwise be a full day of travel into a single four-hour flight and leaving a full afternoon free for game viewing on arrival. Many travellers combine this leg with a short cultural stop in Alexandria itself before departure, pairing the city’s Greco-Roman heritage and Mediterranean corniche with the entirely different rhythm of a Tanzanian safari camp only hours later. Fuel planning for the sector is straightforward given the aircraft’s range margin, and operators typically build in a comfortable buffer for the descent and approach into Seronera’s unpaved strip, where daylight arrival is strongly preferred for both operational and wildlife-viewing reasons.
