Private Jet Capri to Clarksville

Capri has no runway long enough for fixed-wing traffic, so a charter beginning on the island typically starts with a short helicopter transfer from the Capri Heliport above Marina Grande to a jet waiting on the mainland, most often at Naples, before the long westbound leg to Clarksville, Tennessee, 4,484 nautical miles away, gets underway. The island’s limestone Faraglioni stacks, the Blue Grotto, and the ruins of Villa Jovis, built by the emperor Tiberius on the island’s eastern cliffs, have drawn private travellers for the better part of two centuries, and the helicopter link remains the fastest way off Capri during the busy summer months when the ferries run at capacity. Capri’s association with wealthy visitors dates back further still, to the Roman emperor Augustus and his successor Tiberius, who ruled the empire from the island for its final decade, long before any Grand Tour traveller arrived. Once airborne from the mainland, a heavy jet is required for the transatlantic sector, and the Gulfstream G550 handles it comfortably, with a certified ceiling of 51,000 feet, a cruise speed near Mach 0.80, and range well in excess of the distance required, leaving a useful margin for routeing around North Atlantic weather. Its cabin, divided into distinct seating and rest areas on most configurations, suits the roughly nine-hour block time typical of this pairing. Clarksville, at the far end of the journey, sits at the strategic confluence of the Red and Cumberland Rivers, a site marked today by Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center. This itinerary, part helicopter, part long-range jet, suits travellers who value Capri’s seclusion highly enough to accept the extra transfer, and who need to reach the American South without sacrificing the privacy that chartering the whole journey, start to finish, is meant to provide.
