Private Jet Van Nuys to Yonkers

Van Nuys Airport, one of the busiest general aviation facilities in the country and the long-time base for much of Los Angeles’s private jet traffic, sits 2,138 nautical miles from Westchester County Airport, a genuine coast-to-coast sector best flown in a heavy jet such as the Gulfstream G450 or a well-fuelled Challenger 650. Both aircraft can make the crossing nonstop, cruising at altitudes approaching 45,000 feet where headwinds are usually more manageable than lower in the jet stream, and pressurisation calibrated to reduce fatigue on a westbound-to-eastbound overnight departure, and a cabin of this size gives passengers room to work through calls and paperwork, eat properly, or rest across a flight that generally takes close to five hours coast to coast. Van Nuys handles an extraordinary volume of charter departures each year, drawing on Los Angeles’s entertainment, technology and finance sectors, and its ground infrastructure and dedicated charter ramps are built for exactly this kind of high-frequency, high-value traffic. Westchester County Airport mirrors that role on the New York side, sparing passengers the queues at LaGuardia and JFK and delivering them roughly 25 miles from Manhattan, close to the financial and professional firms clustered in White Plains and a short drive from Greenwich, Connecticut’s hedge fund corridor. Those continuing north find the Hudson Valley’s calmer scenery within easy reach. This transcontinental route suits entertainment executives, agents and producers with regular New York obligations, technology investors splitting time between the two coasts, and any traveller for whom the ability to depart on their own schedule, carry sensitive material securely, and arrive without the friction of a major commercial terminal outweighs the cost of flying privately across such a long distance, particularly when a project or a deal simply cannot wait for the next scheduled flight.
