Private Jet Portofino to Mountain Air Country Club

Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo Airport, gateway to Portofino and the Ligurian coast, sits some 2,711 nautical miles from Mountain Air Country Club’s private airstrip in western North Carolina. A super mid-size jet, the Challenger 350 and Gulfstream G280 among the models best suited to the sector, carries this route with cabin space enough for a full party and their luggage across a flight of several hours at altitudes up to roughly 45,000 feet. Guests departing Genoa often come fresh from Portofino’s harbour, the pastel houses of the Cinque Terre, or the yachts anchored along this stretch of coast. Arrival could not feel more different: Mountain Air’s own airstrip delivers passengers directly into a private, gated community wrapped around a mountaintop golf course, with sightlines toward Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi. The club sits at an elevation that keeps its summers distinctly cooler than the Carolina lowlands, a quality long prized by its members. For those wanting a taste of town life, Asheville’s restaurants and galleries are a short drive from the gate. The route suits owners and members whose travels alternate between the Italian Riviera and a mountain second home, offering a private, direct alternative to the multiple connections a commercial itinerary would require. Whether timed to open the club’s golf season or to close out a European summer, the combination of a well-equipped jet and a direct arrival onto Mountain Air’s own strip keeps the journey unhurried despite the distance involved, and gives travellers the rare experience of stepping from a coastal Italian morning into an Appalachian evening in a single day.
